Famous for the production of cheese and cider, Somerset is a sleepy county with much more countryside than urban action. Apart from the beautiful Georgian city of Bath with its fabulous Roman spas, likely towns for nanny jobs include Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Wells and Glastonbury. Otherwise it’s all long, sandy beaches, historic villages and market towns. There’s plenty to do though with brilliant nanny days out to be had at the caves at Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole and at the Exmoor National Park (with its red deer and Exmoor ponies). The annual music festival of Glastonbury is well worth organizing a nanny day off for, as some of the world’s best bands and stars strut their stuff for a long weekend in June.
